WE ARE PUBLIC HEALTH

We understand your challenges because we've been there.

  • Spokane Regional Health District was among the first group of health departments to receive national accreditation.

  • Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department was among the first health departments in the nation to develop a QI council and QI plan and evaluation.

WHO WE ARE

THE PUBLIC HEALTH CENTERS FOR EXCELLENCE IS A PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN TWO LEADERS IN PUBLIC HEALTH QUALITY AND INNOVATION: THE SPOKANE REGIONAL HEALTH DISTRICT  AND THE TACOMA-PIERCE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT.

The Centers for Excellence provide consulting services to public and tribal health agencies on their journey to quality and accreditation.  Originally formed as the "Washington State Public Health Performance Management Centers for Excellence", this group of public health experts was funded through the National Public Health Improvement and Infrastructure grant awarded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  When grant funding ended in 2014, the demand for Centers consultation and assistance continued to grown among local health departments and tribal health agencies that needed:

  • Practical tips and training

  • Reasonably-priced services

  • "Real world" application of quality improvement and performance management in public health

  • Successful experience with PHAB accreditation preparation

The Centers for Excellence continue to provide these services through fee-for-service contracts, grant sub-contracts and other sponsored funding mechanisms.
